College Credit Your Way

UAA offers multiple options for high school students to earn college credit while still in high school. Save money, earn stackable credits, and join the Seawolf community from anywhere in Â鶹ÎÞÂë°æ. Courses are offered in every format, from online and in-person classes on the UAA campuses to classes taught in your local high school. Many of these programs offer discounted (or free) tuition. Review the options below to see which program might be the best fit for you.

COMPREHENSIVE DUAL CREDIT

Â鶹ÎÞÂë°æ delivers two specific structured programs for motivated students who are ready to immerse themselves in a college environment: Â鶹ÎÞÂë°æ Middle College and ANSEP.  These programs are specifically designed to ensure simultaneous college and high school credit and provide a structured, high-touch support system.

ALASKA MIDDLE COLLEGE

Middle College is a partnership between school districts and UAA. Students kickstart their college careers, transition smoothly to the university environment, and potentially graduate from high school with a certificate or degree. Tuition is fully or partly funded by local districts. Middle College Programs have specific admission requirements, application processes, and deadlines. The Middle College model is deployed across UAA, with variations in programming: Anchorage (AMCS), Mat-Su College (MSMCS), and Kenai Peninsula Middle College (KPMC).

ANSEP ACCELERATION

The Â鶹ÎÞÂë°æ Native Science & Engineering Program (ANSEP) is a successful statewide initiative that creates pathways for students pursuing science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields. ANSEP's Full-time Acceleration Academy is available to students in grades 9–12 during the academic year and prepares them for college and future careers through intensive academic coursework and meaningful social engagement. The ANSEP Summer Acceleration Academy is a five-week residential component held annually in Anchorage, bringing together students from communities across Â鶹ÎÞÂë°æ. Participation in the Acceleration Academy requires students to meet specific admissions criteria and complete the application process by established deadlines.

DUAL ENROLLMENT AT YOUR HIGH SCHOOL

Students can earn both high school credit and UAA college credit by successfully completing specific courses at their high school.

These courses are taught by qualified high school instructors in the high schools and cost the student $25 per credit. This makes getting a head start on college incredibly cost-effective. Grades in these courses are included on an official university transcript. This credit can then be used toward a degree or certificate at UAA or transferred to other institutions (transferability is determined by the receiving institution).

CAREER & TECHNICAL EDUCATION (CTE) ARTICULATED COURSES

These Career & Technical Education Courses are pre-approved to count toward UAA Credit. Some high schools offer simultaneous registration in the UAA course. Or you can request credit when you become a degree seeking student at UAA through the Non-Traditional Credit Process. Previous Articulation Agreements can be found on our website for Prior Learning.
