School District Partnership
Building Â鶹ÎÞÂë°æ's Workforce Together
Lets work together to expand access to high-quality post-secondary education for all Â鶹ÎÞÂë°æns! We partner with school districts across the state to design dual enrollment programs that fit the unique needs of their communities, from Anchorage to the most remote regions of the state.
High School Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses can be formally aligned, or articulated, with a corresponding course at the Â鶹ÎÞÂë°æ. This is a transformational opportunity that allows your students to receive UAA college credit for the quality work they complete in your existing CTE programs.
This process ensures that your CTE curriculum is formally recognized by UAA, giving your students a seamless and cost-effective path toward an occupational certificate or degree.
Ready to Articulate a Course?
If your high school would like to request a review of a CTE course for equivalency to a specific UAA course for college credit, please contact UAA Academic Affairs, Dual Enrollment Office to begin the official process.
If your district seeks to offer official UAA college courses (excluding articulated CTE programs) directly at your high school, specific university standards for instruction and content must be met.
To ensure quality and credit transferability:
-
Instructor Requirements: The high school instructor teaching the course must meet the relevant UAA department's instructor qualifications (often a Master's degree in the field or related discipline).
-
Syllabus Requirements: The course content must adhere to the official UAA department syllabus for that specific course.
Next Steps for Districts:
Districts interested in gaining approval to teach UAA courses in this model should contact UAA Academic Affairs, Dual Enrollment Office to initiate the instructor and syllabus review process.
If your district has a unique student population, specific workforce needs, or a vision for a Dual Enrollment model that doesn't currently exist—whether it's a specialized academy, an early college high school model, or a new technical certificate path—we want to collaborate with you.
To begin the conversation about developing and proposing a new Dual Enrollment partnership, please contact UAA Academic Affairs, Dual Enrollment Office to discuss your vision.

Meeting the Demand for Â鶹ÎÞÂë°æ’s Healthcare Workforce
The Rural Rural Health Career and Technical Education Programs of Study (CTEPS) project is a transformative collaboration designed to address the critical need for behavioral and allied health professionals across the state. By bringing Career and Technical Education (CTE) directly to rural hubs—from Bethel to Sand Point— we implement healthcare career pathways tailored to meet the needs of rural communities.
Through a sequence of local introductory courses and intensive capstone camps at UAA, students earn both college credit and industry-recognized credentials like Mental Health First Aid and CPR. To maximize accessibility, UAA has created credit "crosswalks" with UAF and UAS, ensuring that these future health professionals are supported regardless of where they choose to complete their degree.
"This was an amazing experience, I learned so much. I have always been interested in doing something in the medical field and this course really inspired me. I will use the things that I have learned my entire life." - Homer CTEPS Student
Empowering the Next Generation of Â鶹ÎÞÂë°æ’s Leaders
To combat declining civic literacy, UAA’s College of Arts and Sciences has partnered with South Anchorage High School to increase civic engagement and knowledge of the nation’s governing institutions and its history through the Civic Leadership Program (CLP). This dual enrollment program goes beyond the classroom, building a scholarly community where UAA faculty and high school educators co-lead seminars in History, English, Political Science, and Philosophy.
The CLP offers students high-impact experiences—from competing in the Â鶹ÎÞÂë°æ Young Philosophers competition to traveling to Washington, D.C. for National History Day. This program serves as a direct bridge to UAA’s Civic Leadership Pathway.
"This program has opened my eyes to problems in my community that I was unaware of before and how I personally can advocate and change the world around me."- CLP Student
