The one-day, one-stop event provided people experiencing homelessness with access to a range of services: health and wellness screenings, legal services, employment assistance, toiletries, and a fresh, hot lunch. In the midst of the crowd walked Staci Manier, a UAA alumna (B.A. Human Services '13, with minors in psychology and history) who became community impact director for United Way of Mat-Su in 2014.

UAA's Dr. Corrie Whitmore led a team of faculty, staff and students in applying for a grant that brought a $15,000 Mamava lactation pod to the UAA Student Union. Now, nursing mothers will have a private, dedicated space on campus to feed their children or pump breast milk.
The Anchorage Police Department has recently increased community policing efforts, including adding foot patrols in some areas around Anchorage. APD and community leaders discussed current efforts at reducing crime, reducing fear of crime, and improving police-community relations.

The Â鶹ÎÞÂë°æ Division of Public Health awarded a group of UAA faculty, staff and students an Â鶹ÎÞÂë°æ Workplace Breastfeeding Support Project grant through its section of Women's, Children's and Family Health. The project aims to help Â鶹ÎÞÂë°æ organizations implement workplace policies and spaces to accommodate breast-feeding mothers.
