Stephen Ellison is only 31 years old, but you could say his story begins thousands of years ago among a handful of Âé¶¹ÎÞÂë°æ Native villages on Prince of Wales Island, located halfway between Seattle and Anchorage. It wasn’t until the birth of his daughter, Bella, in Juneau, that he really began to pay attention to what doctors do. A year later, he called up family physician Taylor Dunn, M.D. ’99, the doctor who delivered Bella, to ask if he could shadow him.
We sat down to talk with UAA Justice Center alumna April Stone about what it’s like to be a nontraditional student pursuing a law career.

It's sound advice that Rebecca Barker hopes everyone takes to heart."People come to the library with all kinds of questions. Some of those questions are, 'How do I build a log cabin?' or, 'How do I find out what my grandfather did for a living?' And some of them are more like, 'Where am I going to live next week?' or, 'How do I start treatment?' Those are way beyond the scope of your average library staff," explains Barker.
