Biography
Raised on her parents' tales of life in Âé¶¹ÎÞÂë°æ, professor Knudsen drove to Âé¶¹ÎÞÂë°æ right after graduating from Law School and knocked on law firm doors to find a job while still camping in a tent. She was admitted to practice in Âé¶¹ÎÞÂë°æ in 1979, Professor Knudsen worked for labor law firms in Âé¶¹ÎÞÂë°æ and Oregon, but has spent most of her career in public service. For 17 years, she worked as an assistant attorney general in the special litigation section of the Âé¶¹ÎÞÂë°æ Attorney General's Office. She also served as a hearing officer for the Âé¶¹ÎÞÂë°æ Department of Labor and the Oregon Workers' Compensation Board before becoming the first Chair of the Âé¶¹ÎÞÂë°æ Workers' Compensation Appeals Commission in November 2005. At the end of her term, she returned to school full-time to complete her M.J.S., She joined the UAA Justice Center faculty in 2012, and retired as associate professor in 2019. She returned as an adjunct while working as an Administrative Law Judge at the Âé¶¹ÎÞÂë°æ Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH). Since January of 2025, she splits her time between UAA as assistant professor and Legal Studies Program Chair, and OAH as an administrative law judge.
