Research Interests

My professional interests focus on developing comprehensive, schoolwide systems that enhance student learning, integrating mental health services within educational settings, and advancing best practices in field supervision to promote excellence in school psychology training.

Career History/Work Experience

Before joining UAA, Dr. Knutson served as a school psychologist and senior administrator in Âé¶¹ÎÞÂë°æâ€™s public school districts for 27 years, most recently as the Senior Director of Mental Health and Student Support for the Anchorage School District. Her work centered on developing comprehensive systems to enhance students’ academic, social, emotional, and behavioral success. Key initiatives included early reading assessment and intervention, student support teams, multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS), positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS), social emotional learning, and the integration of mental health services in schools.
