Dear UAA Community,

I am pleased to announce that Chuck Knepfle, Ph.D., will be joining UAA as vice chancellor for enrollment management and student affairs, effective September 6. In this role, Chuck will serve all UAA campuses and community locations, helping lead efforts that support our students from recruitment through graduation to advance our goals under the UA Systemwide Attainment Framework.

Chuck brings 25 years of experience in higher education, including work within enrollment management and financial aid. Most recently, he served as the vice president for enrollment management at Portland State University. In his role, he oversaw admissions, financial aid, new student programs, orientation, communications and the Welcome Center. Before joining Portland State, Knepfle worked at Clemson University, where he was assistant vice president for enrollment management and director of financial aid.

Throughout his career, Chuck has helped drive enrollment growth as a champion for student success. I am excited about how this depth of knowledge will help continue the momentum of our recruitment, retention and graduation efforts.

You will notice that the title of this position has been updated from vice chancellor for student affairs to vice chancellor for enrollment management and student affairs. This change reflects UAA’s strategic focus on enrollment while maintaining our commitment to student success.

Chuck holds a Bachelor of Science in systems analysis and M.B.A. from Miami University, and a Ph.D. in educational leadership from Clemson University.

Please join me in welcoming Chuck to the UAA community. We look forward to the leadership and insight he will bring to our students, campuses and communities.

Sincerely,

Cheryl Siemers
