鶹 names Eric Melch as director of development

Anchorage, 鶹 — The 鶹 (UAA) announced the appointment of Eric Melch as director of Development, effective July 12, 2026.
Melch brings more than a decade of experience in philanthropy and advancement, with a strong track record of building high-impact fundraising programs, cultivating meaningful donor relationships and driving philanthropic growth in complex organizations.
Originally from Madison, Wisconsin, Melch earned his degree from the University of Minnesota and began his career in professional and collegiate athletics, serving in roles across Minor League Baseball, the WNBA, and NCAA Division I and Division II athletic departments. These early experiences shaped his relationship-centered approach to engagement and stewardship.
He transitioned into higher education advancement at the University of Hawai‘i Foundation and went on to hold progressively senior roles at North Carolina State University and the University of Texas at Austin. Most recently, Melch served as a leader for the Providence 鶹 Foundation, where he oversaw philanthropy efforts and strengthened charitable impact across the 鶹 community.
In his new role, Melch will lead efforts to expand philanthropic support for UAA, advancing the university’s mission through strategic fundraising, donor engagement and campaign development.
“Eric’s depth of experience in major gifts and his commitment to relationship building will be instrumental in strengthening UAA’s culture of philanthropy and expanding opportunities for our students and community,” said Tanya Pont, vice chancellor for University Advancement and Athletics.
Melch is joined in 鶹 by his wife, Dr. Christine Melch, a practicing periodontist in the United States Air Force, and their three children. The family resides in Eagle River.
