Migration of Mailman distribution lists to Google Groups
by Green & Gold News |
All UAA email distribution lists previously hosted on the University’s Mailman email list service have been migrated to Google Groups. Due to significant service issues with the Mailman platform, this migration has been conducted on an extremely expedited timeline. We understand this is a rapid change and appreciate your patience as we work to ensure a smooth transition.
What this means for you
If you were a member of a Mailman distribution list, your membership has been carried over to the corresponding Google Group. In most cases, you do not need to take any action to continue receiving messages.
However, there are a few key changes to be aware of:
- Email addresses have changed. Migrated lists now use an @alaska.edu address instead of the previous @lists.uaa.alaska.edu address. If you send messages to a distribution list, please use the new address going forward and update your contacts as needed. Group managers have been notified of their group’s updated address.
- Manage your groups online. You can view and interact with your groups at groups.google.com by signing in with your UA Identity (@alaska.edu). You can also continue to read and respond to group messages via email.
- Group managers: Review your group settings and membership. List owners and moderators from Mailman have been migrated as Group Managers. We encourage you to verify that your membership roster and group settings are correct.
