Cora Lyon was awarded the prestigious Goldwater Scholarship, an undergraduate scholarship awarded to about 300 college sophomores and juniors annually in the disciplines of natural science, mathematics, and engineering. The merit-based scholarship is allocated on need and awards recipients up to $7,500 for tuition.
Each year, the UAA Diversity Action Council awards the Student Diversity Award Scholarship to students who significantly enhance diversity at UAA by increasing visibility of diverse people, cultures and/or perspectives; creating a welcoming environment; and/or representing diverse student voices through their advocacy and participation in UAA student organizations.
Social work master’s student Jay Greene (pronouns: they/them, he/him) believes in system reform through policy, as evidenced in their work with UAA’s LGBTQIA2S+ Committee and Gender Inclusive Housing Committee. Greene was a recipient of the Student Diversity Scholarship.
Students from the Doctor of Pharmacy Program, which is offered jointly by UAA and Idaho State University (ISU), understand the personal and historical significance of vaccinating Â鶹ÎÞÂë°æns against COVID-19. This has left them feeling grateful and excited after they administered hundreds of vaccine doses to senior citizens.
Duane Wood is, a P1 student in the UAA/ISU Doctor of Pharmacy program and originally from a small Â鶹ÎÞÂë°æn island town of about 800 people called Klawock, reflects on his journey into pharmacy.
