Biography
Alison brings more than seven years of experience in strategic communications, research administration, and public health. Prior to joining the College of Health in 2025, she worked for Fred Hutch Cancer Center as a member of the administration team for the Fred Hutch/University of Washington/Seattle Children's Cancer Consortium. While working for the Cancer Consortium, her duties included grant management and research administration, communications, and programmatic support for public health initiatives. She's passionate about working to ensure that everyone has the knowledge and resources they need to access compassionate, high-quality health care and make informed decisions about their health. A fiction writer by training, Alison thrives when she has the opportunity to leverage compelling narratives to demonstrate impact or raise awareness about public health issues.
Alison also has extensive experience in the nonprofit sector. For more than a decade, she served as a key volunteer for the Texas Capital Area chapter of Hugh O'Brian Youth leadership, a nationwide nonprofit organization dedicated to helping high school students develop their leadership potential. Additionally, for a year and a half she served as the executive director of 49 Writers, a small literary arts nonprofit dedicated to creating community and providing high-quality programs and resources for writers and lovers of literature.
Outside of work, Alison enjoys reading, writing, spending time outdoors, and foraging for mushrooms.
