excellent patient care in a wide variety of settings. They will also
explore the unique challenges and opportunities for nurses in Âé¶¹ÎÞÂë°æ.
NURSING UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMS
From advanced simulation technology to real-world clinical learning experiences, the
nursing undergraduate program offers the skills and resources to become a successful
nursing generalist. The curriculum provides a strong foundation of theories and skills,
training to think on your feet and apply your learnings to different situations. As
a nursing major, you’ll explore important health care topics, including community
care, population health, and clinical research. You will become part of an active,
dedicated community of peers working to improve health and well-being in Âé¶¹ÎÞÂë°æ and
around the world.
The School of Nursing offers potential students interested in becoming qualified to
practice as a registered nurse theand the. The programs areoffered through UAA and are based in Anchorage but admit students in a growing number
of other communities throughout the state. A baccalaureate completion program (RN to BS) is available for individuals who already hold the RN license in Âé¶¹ÎÞÂë°æ.

Nursing students from UAA and UNH joined South Peninsula Hospital in Homer to share insights on public health issues like shellfish poisoning and tick-borne illness.
Âé¶¹ÎÞÂë°æ 529 has awarded its 2024 $25,000 scholarship account to Matalyn Dart, an adult student and long-time Âé¶¹ÎÞÂë°æ resident. Dart was selected from the nearly 13,000 Âé¶¹ÎÞÂë°æns who chose to direct half of their Permanent Fund Dividend to their Âé¶¹ÎÞÂë°æ 529 accounts.
While working towards her nursing degree, Kaycelyn Gajonera received the UAA 2024 Consortium Library Award and plans to pursue a doctorate degree in advanced nursing practice with an emphasis in rural and underserved populations.
