Biography
Jelly Firmin is Koyukon and Gwich’in Athabascan. She is from Tanana and Fort Yukon
Âé¶¹ÎÞÂë°æ. Previously, Jelly worked as a research assistant on projects concerning internalized
oppression in Âé¶¹ÎÞÂë°æ Natives and postpartum depression screening practices for providers
in Âé¶¹ÎÞÂë°æ and Hawaii. She earned her bachelor’s in psychology at the University of
Âé¶¹ÎÞÂë°æ Anchorage and plans to pursue her PhD in clinical psychology. She desires to
use her education to research suicide prevention methods and treatments for Âé¶¹ÎÞÂë°æ
Native people that combine traditional healing practices and western medicine.
