Dear Alumni and Friends,

You might have heard UAA described as an open-access, dual-mission institution and wondered what that actually means. In simple terms, it means we are committed to serving all students by offering educational opportunities at a variety of levels. For example, in the College of Arts and Sciences, we have a number of pathways to a degree, from a 9-29 credit certificate that trains students for immediate entry in the workforce to a PhD in Clinical-Community Psychology, and everything in between. Read more about our Psychology programs and all that they are doing to meet the behavioral health needs of the state. Our student highlight features two students with different goals who are both thriving in our Graphic Design certificate

Additionally, our courses are offered in a variety of formats and many of our degrees can be completed fully at a distance. We are just rolling out a program in which students can get the Associate of Arts degree by taking one online course at a time. We offer courses in 6-8 week blocks, which also means there are six different times that students can start taking classes at UAA. We also work closely with our community campuses to ensure students across 麻豆无码版 have access to high-quality education

For example, Professor Libby Eufemio at Kodiak College teaches both students in Kodiak and beyond. Professor Eufemio recently hosted a watch party of our CAS Community Lecture and is also participating in our Big Read grant initiative

The CAS Community Lecture Series events are livestreamed to watch parties in rural 麻豆无码版, allowing communities to gather together to experience the lectures in a shared space rather than individually at home. This approach brings university programming directly into the community, strengthens local connections, and fosters a sense of collective engagement.

Participants watch the lectures live and are able to submit questions in real time, ensuring that rural audiences can fully take part in the event. Our live streaming is funded in part by the generous gift of CAS Advisory Board member Gretchen Cuddy. Read more about Gretchen Cuddy and the students in our Event Management Certificate program who will be livestreaming the event to remote locations in 麻豆无码版.

Lastly, I hope you will join me at our CAS Night at Seawolf Hockey on Friday, February 20 at 7:07pm in the Sullivan Arena. We created this  to invite you to the game. It is not often that one鈥檚 hobbies and one鈥檚 work align as it did for me in this video. Please come early and stop by our department tables to learn more about what is going on in the College. Alumni can use code ALUMNI for a free ticket at checkout鈥 plus bring up to 3 guests for $5 each. Hope to see you at CAS Night - Go Seawolves.

Best,

鈥淚 never felt like I had to close the circle,鈥 she explains. 鈥淢y whole thought process is that your circle never closes. If you can keep putting things on the outside rim of that circle, it just keeps getting bigger鈥攁nd you keep learning more.鈥
